This 1969 promo release was created for the burgeoning USA AM radio-station market, using the stereo master & CSG process (Compatible Studio Generator) to create a more acceptable sound balance through the mono broadcast system."
Our only modification of the Discog information concerns the phrase "burgeoning USA AM radio-station market"; it was, in fact, exactly the opposite: a declining market that had been the dominant customer base for Atlantic over the course of the company's lifetime. Because of the role these stations played in the success of the company, Ahmet Ertegun felt it was important to provide prromotional mono mixes for these still-loyal radio stations who were not able to broadcast the stereo signal. Some titles received specific mono mixes from the producers of the sessions (see Derek and the Dominos) but the vast majority were made using the CSG process.
